Carbon Monoxide Alarms

Carbon Monoxide Alarms

Hey everyone, welcome back to my real estate blog. I hope that you are all having a great 2017 so far, mine has been fairly lackluster. I recently helped a buyer find a house, and one month after him and his family moved in they had one of their pets die due to carbon monoxide poisoning. Lots of houses built before 2000 will not have adequate ventilation for a carbon monoxide leak, and many houses built after still do not have proper alarms or detection systems. Carbon Monoxide is a toxic gas, but since it is not only odorless but also colorless tasteless and non irritating initially and has been dubbed the silent killer because of this. Low levels of exposure can lead to depression, memory loss, and confusion whereas high levels can kill someone in a manner of minutes. Read more

Real Estate - Estate Agents

Real Estate - Estate Agents

Online Estate agents are supposed to be a thing of the future. If you don't want to sell your house, then sign up to Purple bricks. Basically during the time that my property has been with the Estate agent Purple bricks, which is 8 months, every other property within a short walking distance from me has been sold while i have had very little attention from buyers. Perhaps this is because the Estate agent they sent was happy to lie to me about its actual value , even suggesting we put it up for sale at £125,000 when this is ridiculous.  Or maybe it’s because of the photos of my property are dark of extreme poor quality (clearly taken from a phone ) as the agent could not be bothered to bring a camera round and photograph it professionally. The Estate Agent reassured me by pictures were perfectly fine and for some unfathomable reason show stupid things like curtain rails and dirty paving stones, rather than any attempt to show a wider aspect of any of the rooms. The Coolest Door chimes

19/12/2016 Main

Welcome guys, and hello. This is my real estate blog, and I would like to thank you all for checking out my latest post. I had to get a new door bell the other day, and luckily found a lot of door chimes for sale online and picked out a couple different one to try. There are some really humorous ones out there, and thanks to modern day technology there are some pretty futuristic ones you can find as well. Some of these fancier one you need to have a smart phone or something similar which is why the traditional battery powered chimes are my favourite and always will be. Here are some of the more impressive door chimes. Read more

Moving House Without a Scratch

Moving House Without a Scratch( of Paint)

Hi there people, welcome back to my Real Estate blog. Me and my wife recently purchased a new house and have started with the task of getting everything from one house to the other. We are keeping the old house to rent to some friends later this year so we have no rush to get out, but we took possession of the house earlier this week and want to move in now. I searched online and found lots of boxes and totes at http://www.used.forsale/ for cheap so everything is getting all packed up and we are just so excited to finally move into our dream home. I just hope that the move goes well and nothing gets damaged as these are both our homes and now and we wouldn’t want to have a bad start to the whole “rental property” thing. I have good experience helping people move as I am a  rather large man, and I had a truck back home. Hopefully I can use this experience to make this as pain free as possible, and if you follow some simple tips you can do. Read more

Buying abroad

There are plenty of people who invest money abroad, attracted by the prospect of getting more for their money. It’s exciting to things about buying a house in some far-away, exotic place, leaving the rat-race behind and retiring early in paradise. Whether a villa in sun-soaked Spain, a stone cottage in the French countryside or a guesthouse in Asia, people are looking abroad for new places to live. Read more

McMansions taking over

McMansions taking over

The massive, oversized houses filling Melbourne’s suburbs, causing our city to become one of the most spread out cities worldwide. I hear Melbourne has the highest home ownership per capita in the world these days. Most of these McMansions are epitome of bad taste and poor judgement. What happened to the lovely old fashioned weatherboard 2 bedroom home with a rusty front gate and small veggie patch out the back of our childhood? Checking the houses for sale online http://www.australia.for-sale.com/ shows they are selling, but developers are snapping them up and bulldozing them to build McMansions. Read more

Sell Your Own Home

Sell Your Own Home

Hey there folks! Thanks once again for returning for another installment of real estate awesomeness on my blog! I hope you have been finding it informative and helpful so far. Please keep the emails and feedback coming in. All your thoughts, opinions and points of view are really appreciated and help me to form the basis of the blog to cater to your preferences. Just a quick post today as a filler. I will be posting a longer post in the coming days but I would not want you to go without in the meantime. My parents recently sold their home of the last 20 years and I was surprised to find out that rather than selling through a traditional brick and mortar estate agents they had used an online, virtual service instead. The beauty of this was that they were able to reduce the cost of the sale drastically. Rather than charge a percentage of the sale price to the agents, they were instead charged a one off admin fee that was extremely reasonable in price! The sales board went up outside of the house as normally would happen with a traditional estate agent and the property was advertised nationwide via the agent's website, keeping it real simple. Viewings were arranged through the agent but as it is a virtual service my parents had to be present to conduct viewings, which wasn’t a major hassle as both of them are now retired. They found a buyer inside 6 weeks. Winner. I will certainly be using a service like this when I eventually decide to upgrade myself.  Read more

Renewable Energy & Living Off Grid

Thanks for coming back to my real estate blog for the latest post ladies and gents. As you have probably all guessed by now, I prefer to blog about the alternative side to property and real estate as opposed to the more conventional topics that most bloggers of my elk tend to stick to. Well today is another prime example of that tendency as this post is going to be all about living off grid through the utilisation of affordable renewable energy. You must all have come across this living concept before, whether it be via a news report, documentary or magazine article. But how many of you actually know someone who has adopted this lifestyle. I would wager very few you. It is fair to say that people living off grid are still very much in the minority. But why is that? It sounds idyllic right? Being at one with nature and doing you bit for the environment? But when push comes to shove, detaching yourself from the accepted way of living is more daunting than you may think. But that needed be the case. Let’s take a closer look at the living off grid premise and see if we can’t debunk some of the common myths surrounding it. Read more
